that’s one tall and lovely tree of happy.
It is!
Great list.
Thanks Darlene
Love it; and I couldn’t agree more with your last one (but with my kids, not yours) 🙂
Smiling Jim. I get it!
Awesomeness…a silly comment, oh well!
Awesomeness. That works!
You must have had fun getting this list in order so it would take the shape it has. That would be a fun post to do. It was fun to read and dream about too.
Smiling. You have such a great eye and love how your mind works. It was fun. It was like a puzzle, not easy to get alignment and took some juggling. Thank you Anneli. You are certainly top of mind when I listed Blog Followers in my Happiness Is list.
Oh my gosh, my ego is going to bust wide open. But seriously, I would love to have been there to help you make that list. It really looks like fun. This coming from a word and puzzle fanatic.
It was a puzzle!
…dog tag music.
Dog Tag Music. Like that.

The branches of trees in summer, heavy with fruits, delightfully swaying with summer breeze.
May your summer branches always be heavy with Your Happiness…
Beautiful!
Lovely list, and leaving me wondering how long it took to get the list to align so perfectly.
Great that you kept the best on the list till last.
Thank you Michael. It did take a bit of time!
Been thinking, it is such a great insight into a person’s values and preferences. I’d like to do an article on it . Would that be ok with you?
Of course. Would be honored. Thank you Michael.
What a beautiful post dear David, loved so much. Thank you, Blessing and Happiness, Love, nia
Thank you Nia!
Great post David – Fleetwood Mac and M*A*S*H…we must be the same vintage! 🙂
We are SO the sad vintage. Like fine wine Nicolas!
So life-affirming!
Thank you CB! It was producing it too. 😀
Murakami! So I presume you’ve read his runnng book as well. We have read all of his work and always look forward to the next one! I also like your last line 🤗
I have read everything he has written and still love my first read best, Kafka on the Shore best. Thank you Bela!
I think I started with the Wind-up Bird Chronicles. He’s wonderful, really transports me to his weird little world 😉
‘Transport’ – that’s exactly what he does.
Woohoo! Are the kids coming home for a visit or is this a general happy statement? Adding my one more – remembering all that makes me happy when I don’t feel like it.
General happy. But Rachel came home this weekend – a surprise visit – what a LIGHT!
[…] morning in my inbox was an article from David Kanigan, whose Live and Learn blog I heartily recommend, as he has this effect on me regularly. He had […]
I was just thinking specifically about Miami. There is a hybrid hostel, Freehand Miami, that I love and it’s one of my happy places. My dad passed on the 14th in Maine and it was a steel blue cold day. I need Miami and it’s hustle, soft warm sand, raspberry blue water, and old men in t-shirts, sitting on stoops, holding small dogs, loving their breathing, heart beating lives.
Elizabeth, so sorry to hear about your Dad…
And I was swept away by your words (steel blue cold day – hustle, soft warm sand, raspberry blue water… – holy moly – that is some fine writing….!
Happiness is this delightful list, which made me smile and nod. I’ll add another (and my wish for you…) “Happiness is puppy breath.” Enjoy your time with Rachel, pal!
Puppy breath. How great is that! Good one! Thanks Lori.
…wondering what a brilliant blogster binge watches on Netflix?
Oh Boy. It’s a long list. Grist for a blog post. Most recently: 1) Merli 2) The OA, 3) Nobel, 4) Narcos.
Very creative!
I too LOVE CBS Sunday Morning. In fact, I think it is my favorite thing on TV!
Enjoy your day today. Thanks for the cheer!
Maggie
Thanks Maggie. How great is CBS Sunday Morning. They get it right every Sunday….
I thought only my Gramma fixed buttered spaghetti. Comfort food.
It certainly is. Add a bit of salt and pepper and you’ve stepped into Heaven.
That is a great beginning, DK. I have a feeling you could have continued until the last line filled the page. With no effort.
Smiling. Perhaps Helen. As it was, getting them to all fit was a bit taxing! :). Thank you.
Happiness is discovering positive blog posts like this when you’re feeling overwhelmed.
Smiling. Thank you Josh!
Thank you as well!
Happiness…watching snow falling softly, silently, covering the firs, preparing them for midwinter’s dance…(sigh)…a beautiful calm, before the storm.
Thank you Dave, for the reminder to stop and ‘smell the roses’!
A lot of happiness in your moments Nat, love that. Thank you!
Delightful. It made me smile and nod and agree.
Thank you Linda. Appreciate the kind thoughts.
OMG! So many shared happinesses. There are likely many, many more, creating such a lovely endless venn diagram – makes my heart race thinking of it. And reading everyone’s comments is such an added treat.
Most of all, the last line, because there is nothing like the happy energy our children bring when they come home.
Smiling. Yes. There is NOTHING like the energy children bring.
Love this. many of the things that make you happy make me happy.Thin I am going to do my own list…..
Thanks LouAnn. We are sympatico! I can’t wait to see your list…
