Wally’s Great Adventures (34).

hello friends, wally here. big day today. dad weighed me today and said i weighed 14 lbs, up more than 2x since he adopted me on halloween. dad was so proud, and said i was going to be his little beast. mom smirked, and said a scat eating beast, whatever that means.

mom started to home school me today. dad whispered to me that mom’s a horrible trainer but i should go along with it and do something called humoring her and he told me that there is no way she would turn me into a circus monkey. anyhoo, mom tells me to sit and she gently presses my butt down and then she lifts my paw, and i get a juicy treat. sit-paw-sit-paw-sit-paw-sit-paw-sit-paw. I got the paw part but not the sit part. i love this lesson so much that i walk around the house on three feet with one paw in the air hoping to get more treats. dad came downstairs and asked WTH is wrong with wally? why is he hobbling around on 3 feet like an idiot? I barked at dad and said that wasn’t nice, and mom yelled at dad and said he’s not an idiot. i love mom, but dad is the king and i need to pay attention to him. i’ll keep you all posted on my lessons. have a great weekend. Wally.

  1. The best advice I’ve recieved from a dog trainer, is to catch them in the act and then make a big deal and say the command. I’m still working with Jet on a few things and this method helps. It’s not going to teach them to shake but I’ve trained Jet on sit, wait, shake and outside. Wally is so cute, he looks so small. Have a great weekend.

  2. I think it was a dog documentary I saw, Wally, about how dads / moms need to be clear that they’re yelling at the very bad garbage can, etc. — never the dog — so, my guess is that your dad will soon be cussing out and shaking his finger at any nasty scat that dares catch your attention! 😉👍

      1. Hi Wally :-). Bark at Mom and tell her that the polite thing to do is to stand up when shaking someone’s hand. It is less polite to shake while you are sitting. Also tell her that you are willing to learn only one thing at a time: either “sit“, or “shake“. Don’t worry though, all moms get confused sometimes!

  4. Wally, I am confident you will be a star pupil and the teacher’s pet. As for Dad, don’t worry about him. He’s just miffed that he hasn’t yet figured out the system by which *he* can sit and raise and arm and have mom deliver a treat like ice cream to him. 😉
