Photograph: Robert Bahou. “It is no secret that I am drawn to animals, as I find that they exhibit a truth uncommon in photographs of humans. A truth that can only exist if the camera’s presence is unknown, or in the case of animals, misunderstood. Animals don’t prepare themselves for a photograph the way people do, leaving them sharing a truly honest portion of who they are with the camera. This is why I decided to spend 2015 working on Animal Soul, which is now available for sale.” See more of his animal shots at his web site here.

He definitely captures their soul in this book. 👏
He does!
Love this!
i so agree with this.
Sounds to me like he might be implying, . . “human-fake”, . . . “animal-authentic”.
Who am I to argue?
Laughing. He does…

Bare truth!! Love cats … ‘Animals don’t prepare themselves for a photograph the way people do, leaving them sharing a truly honest portion of who they are with the camera.’
I have pics of my dog (RIP) saying the same – and that was the ‚real film‘ period – precious…. I also own a book called Dogs hanging out of windows which makes me smile hugely every time I open it!
He’s got a series on Dogs too: http://www.robbahou.com/dogs/
Dogs smile and cats always look serious! But hard to say which I love more.
Me too!
What a capture! LOL. I love the “natural” moment he caught on camera.
Did wonder if he worked the look with some honey or some other substance. It was an amazing shot.
I hadn’t thought of that. Hmm…. I know my dogs smile, but this cat picture is something.
Too cute! Thanks for featuring this – going to share the link with Kevin. He’s getting started with pet photography and on the lookout for inspiration.
Great. Thanks Sandy. Yes, this photographer is talented.
