– What?
– Solid quiet. Perfect unbroken quiet.

Perfect stillness here this morning, broken only by occasional bird calls and the rustle of the wind in the trees. Temperature in the low 50s and clear skies. Ahhhhh…

Let’s ease in softly on a pretty day…The sun was out…just before dusk there was a bird outside my window, all by itself and singing so loudly—byeet-byeet-chur-chur-chur. Over and over as if it had just discovered its voice. I was emailing with a friend, your basic hard-bitten journalist, and told him what I was hearing—it sounded like the beginning of the world. He wrote back not with irony but with the information that a band of baby rabbits had just taken over his garden and were out there hopping and bopping: “They are so excited to be on earth.” This struck me as the most important news of the day.

We – on the other hand – were woken by about 100 birds chirping, singing, and generally making a racket – but we’re not complaining 🙂 The one reason I can think of that the singing gang is greatly disturbed by 2 pairs of pies who think they’re king and emperor of the territory. Even the lovebirds are shutting up occasionally 😉
It’s still far too hot for the delicate plants from Switzerland – we cope badly with the heat – but frequent cool showers help a bit.
Have a wonderful QUIET and peaceful weekend.

I’m home if you can break away from your solitude heaven. I have plenty of time next week. Put the finishing touches on the post today and posting next week, probably Tues. 🙂

Miraculously, the only sound I hear is the hum of the pool filter. Even the 3 usually noisy neighbours I have are blessedly quiet.
