Source: From an article on Noah Strycker, titled the Bird Man by Eva Holland. In 2015, Strycker had seen a record 6,042 bird species out of an estimated 10,000 species on the planet. Strycker: “observing birds satisfies a ‘bone-deep, soul-deep need to classify and organize the world around us.” The bird above is Oregon’s State Bird: the Western Meadowlark.

Sing it, brother! Welcome to a new week!! (And nice coordination with your header image, DK!)
You don’t miss anything! Header is the fine work of the Boss (Susan) who took it on her morning walk.
We would wake up to the sound of the Meadowlark on the Canadian prairies. Great memories.
A can hear and see that!
sing it loud!
And Proud!
What an extraordinary and beautiful singer and what a mind-blowing ‘hobby’, observing birds all over the world. Beats, in my opinion, trainspotting by light years!
Happy Monday – K
Due to our closed road we enjoy the morning song of all the birds around us even more…. There is always a bright side to everything!
Trainspotting? I wouldn’t have picked you for a trainspotter!?!?!
Oh gosh, NO I’M NOT…. But trainspotting was THE attraction when we lived in UK, Devon, a beautiful place lovingly called God’s Waiting Room because all the elderly ppl from many places came down to live their old age…. and of course, we had plenty of wonderful eccentrics and otherwise ‘different’ folks with weird and interesting hobbies. During a ‘first’ walk along the sea, we encountered trainspotters for the first time, waiting with tremendous camera equipment, astronomics’ gear to ‘catch’ the beloved and eagerly awaited steam trains. We didn’t even know the term …..spotters (trains, planes etc)! We also never understood why this would be SO omniimportant but then we don’t have to understand everything 🙂
Laughing.

Wake up … good morning, everyone!! Sweet song …
Now I know Oregon’s state bird🙂
It was a learning for me too!
Question; are you living at a beach? Your header is magic! 🙂
No, but 1.5 miles away. Susan took the shot (I’m have no talent in this area and many others)….
Love the bird theme today!
Me too!
Do you have a bird-of-the-day recommendation for a mom stuck home with a fully functional child on a snow day from school? Like, an albatross but cuter?
Try Big Bird. Life size version.
Thought you might have chosen an Eagle this morning. Around here peeps have been going crazy!
OMG. I so blew THAT! What a missed opportunity…
