Got up on a cool morning. Leaned out a window.
No cloud, no wind. Air that flowers held
for awhile. Some dove somewhere …
Let the bucket of memory down into the well,
bring it up. Cool, cool minutes. No one
stirring, no plans. Just being there.
This is what the whole thing is about.

He is a favorite of mine and this is particularly lovely. Thank you.
Mine too Sharon. Thank you.
And poem seemed to fit so beautifully on this cold (and still) Autumn morning.
Yes. The same here.
“Let the bucket of memory down into the well….” Ahhhh, what a visual. In my next life, I want to come back as a poet. Just sayin’. Happy Saturday, pal…
Or come back as William Stafford. 😀 Have a great weekend Lori.
This photo is so Beautiful. The light and shadow paintings the sun displays on walls are so mesmerizing. Especially at dusk and when it’s a dancing shadow of trees.
I haven’t seen the sun in two days, this picture is about it lol
Yes, this photo makes me want to see much more, and then…”Let the bucket of memory down into the well…” to find more of our lives. Ah, Stafford is the kind of poet we want to be!
He is!
The photo is amazing. And if you can’t see the sun, this photo would be the next best thing.
It was the best thing. Warmth radiated from the screen 🙂
