Love, these lines
accompany our want, nameless
or otherwise, and our waiting.
And since we’ve not learned
how not to want,
we’ve had to learn,
by waiting, how to wait.

That boy, he reminds me of a study that was done on children.
They were left in a room, alone, with one marshmallow on a plate and were told that if they “wait” and don’t eat it they’ll get more.
If i remember correctly the study was after the link between those that could wait, delayed gratification, and being more successful in their adult life.
The videos of those kids waiting and looking at the marshmallow are hilarious.

I remember that survey, and ties in nicely with this passage. (For children and adults)

Robert Frost (A road less travelled) speaks of this delayed gratification, those who can live by this rule, often succeed. “Good things come to those who wait.”
