Q: What moves you most in a work of literature?
A: Honesty, vulnerability, moments of forgiveness and redemption, and a recognition that we are all small and our lives so short.

forgiveness and redemption. yes –
Yes, it boils down to that.
What moves us is a reflection of our own values. If I was asked what moved me in literature it would be a sense of connection, appreciation of beauty, meeting challenges and finding peace.
Like THAT Val…
Helen. Humility. Humanity. It all fits.
Nicely done Claudia!
Her book is brilliant!
I couldn’t get beyond 2nd chapter. So Cindy, you are saying, keep going?!?!
Very thought-provoking, thanks!
I haven’t read Helen Macdonald’s book but I found that the beauty of Antarctica and my experience with nature there left me touched by the honesty and vulnerability of the animals we saw, which also led to a realization of how small we are in the grand scheme of things. Perhaps I should read her book…?
You were in Antarctica? Wow. Where are the posts?
How beautiful! A book for me to read for sure. That pile is growing 🙂
