I wish the whole day were like breakfast, when people are still connected to their dreams, focused inward, and not yet ready to engage with the world around them. I realized this is how I am all day; for me, unlike other people, there doesn’t come a moment after a cup of coffee or a shower or whatever when I suddenly feel alive and awake and connected to the world. If it were always breakfast, I would be fine.”

Agreed. Plus the fact that I love breakfast food. Could eat it for lunch and dinner too!

my favorite time of day – the quiet, early morning, just before the circus tent opens –

Wow! I strongly resonate with this one David. So much, in fact I skip the coffee. Caffeine moves me way too quickly into a dayworld perspective.
It’s nice to know one is not alone. This is why we write, eh?
Thanks for this one David!

Hi Debra. I’m not a coffee drinker either. But appreciate those that savor the drink. However, mornings, our my time…Glad you enjoyed it too.

Waking up to a new day and being part of the stillness before everything wakes up is awesome … and for me I adore the whole coming alive process from brushing teeth, to putting on the coffee, feeding the dogs, deciding on which of my exactly the same black yoga gear to put on for teaching. Who cares? Its a new day.
Sorry … I can’t stay with breakfast time. There’s a whole darn day ahead to smell, breathe, move, touch, feel and be fully alive in.
Thanks for allowing me to see this so clearly David 🙂
p.s. I am not a writer… Does it show?

What a wonderful comment to wake up this morning. Loved it Val. Sep: “There’s a whole darn day ahead to smell, breathe, move, touch, feel and be fully alive in.” Thanks for sharing.

Smiling – am not sure if I can relate with this one but I liked it so much that I don’t feel like to consider this question either.

I love being an observer during early morning road trips, driving past dark houses, when, slowly lights start coming on, the soft light of the dawn.
