“A pair of backpackers, trail names of North Star and Shutterbug, quit their day jobs in 2012, and took 165 days to hike the Pacific Coast Trail, from Mexico to Canada, all 2,660 miles of it. And each day, they snapped off a photo of their tent.” The foot-tapping music is “Old Pine” by Ben Howard.
Bottom line: LOVED IT.
Good Sunday morning.
Source: Grindtv. “North Star” is Anna Sofranko, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Shutterbug is a professional photographer and a native of Swarthmore, Pennsylvania. Both are dedicated backpackers who this year will be hiking the Appalachian Trail on the East Coast and the Te Araroa Trail in New Zealand. You can find their blog @ Wandering the Wild.
Delightful, David! The sun kissing the tent is some of those images was ethereal….you find the best stuff! 🙂
Thanks Lori. I thought this was a “bangin” clip! 🙂
Bangin’ indeed! 😉
I particularly loved the shots of the sun gracing the tent (no surprise there I guess)..wonderful. Wonderful that they did this, wonderful that you found and shared it.
Yes, many great shots but the sun on the tent was wonderful…
What a trek that must have been. Looks like they never forgot any tent poles as well…lol.
LONG trek…yes. And yes, tent poles would be important. Can’t imagine sleeping on dirt for that many days in a row. Imagine how great your bed would feel after hiking and backpacking for this long.
Watching this I tried to imagine those 5 months. What an adventure. And what must their relationship be now after so much intimacy? Boggled my mind.
Yes. Apparently good. They have two other major trips plans for this year.
Loved it too!
Great tune and a great adventure that will linger a lifetime in the minds of those campers. Here’s a toast to a long and happy life comprised of risk taking and satisfying rewards along the road to ultimate happiness for lives well lived.
Yes, Rick. I’d describe this as extreme (very) camping for me…
Super COOL! ~ and blessed people. 🙂
🙂 It is Carol
What an adventure! I am thinking about how many times they took the tent down and put it back up again during the 165 days. That is a feat in itself 🙂
Great video! Definitely inspirational!
Laughing. Yes, getting it up once for me is challenging.
Great stuff!
It is, thanks Len
I bet they got really quick at setting up camp each night.
No kidding.
Wow, 2600 miles and a tent – true explorers!
No kidding!
No way !!
Thank You!!!
Yes, this was terrific. Thanks Tara.
