Lightly Child, Lightly

But I also say this:

that light is an invitation to happiness,

and that happiness, when it’s done right,

is a kind of holiness, palpable and redemptive.

~ Mary Oliver, from “Poppies” in New and Selected Poems, Volume One.

  1. I needed your piece this morning. The cruel devastation of Ukraine is dark. But the sun does rise through the clouds, “a kind of holiness . . . . “

  2. Wow! Thank you for being there, capturing this scene, and offering it to us. Mary’s gift continues to bless us. [I think she spent much of her latter days up near the water in Provincetown MA at the end of the Cape.( so she’d certainly extra appreciate your work)]
