Lightly Child, Lightly

The light wavers;

perhaps the person holding it is tired.

The steps slow.

The rush seems to be over.

  1. Magnificent.
    May I share a sentence that described me 5 yrs ago when things were not going too well? It had nothing to do with Light but it does go more than skin deep. The original is in French and reads:
    La peau n’est qu’un tissu de pensées (Agnes Desarthe – 5 photos de ma femme)
    The skin is but a (light) fabric of thoughts

    • That’s beautiful Kiki. Thanks for sharing. This “feels” similar:

      “What happened is baked into your bones… It lives under your skin. It’s not going away. It’s part of you and will be part of you every moment.”

  4. At 97 and a half, my mother has told my two older sisters and me that she has come to that place of wavering light. The beauty of her years has made this place poignant and gentle and illuminated with grace. There is acceptance and love and gratitude for the strength of her light in our lives over these many years. The grief can wait until after she is gone, whether that is this month or in years yet to come. For whatever her time on this earth, it is a time to celebrate, to cherish and to love wildly this tiny matriarch who has travelled so far from the young woman who met a ‘flyboy’ from the RAF during WWII and followed love from India to England to Canada.

    Thank you for this beautiful quote David. I shall share it with my sisters. It is peace-rendering.
