I remembered the fearless, confident boy I used to be back then…I didn’t miss him. I only, sometimes, missed the high spirits that often used to seize me when I was ten. Would there ever be an event in my life that would catapult me back into that ecstatic, silly lightheartedness, even if only for a moment?

Yes. For a long time to come.
I still have my old marbles from childhood. It’s crazy how expensive they are.
You still have them from back then! That’s so great.
My gramps kept for me now I have in a nice jar to display
That’s so great. Wish I had that!
I loved my marbles .. until I lost them. I do miss mine … and what I would give to have them back … along with the silly lightheartedness.
Me too!
And I gave my marbles away. 😫
That would be great, if only for a moment, yes…
Yes. I’m not greedy. 1 per day would be great
I wish you more and more…
Well isn’t that nice!
I can be nice at times! 😂
I snapped a picture of comment. It’s hanging in my office under column of Miracles are possible.
Great…
And then one day it’ll go under, Miracle. All off it!!!
Rofl. Good one!
That was the one thing Mick had in spades. His enthusiastic joy at the littlest thing. Gosh, I miss that… I have moments but never like he did.
Oh to have those moments.
Yeah….
Yes…funny, I tried playing jacks the other day – epic fail and epic fun. You have to pull the sillies out and play – and if you can’t do it on our own, find someone who will give you permission. Then have at it…
Smiling. Yes.
I hope I still have my marbles for a long time to come.
Me too!
Purees, cat’s eyes, steelies, boulders, shooters are just of a few of the names of marbles I remember. I kept the best in my pocket for a quick game in the dirt after school, or in a small cloth bag that I kept in the top drawer of my bedroom dresser.
Oh yes. Exactly. And the small
Cloth bag. Yes!
I don’t miss 10 year old Jo-Anne, I miss her pain free body
Smiling. Me too Joanne.
I see the fun (and pun) of the expression ‘losing one’s marbles’ AND the word silliness jumped to my mind when I saw ‘silly lightheartedness’…..
And I remember that very same position of small children, boys and girls, on the ground and grass, holding and snipping marbles just like that little boy. It was seemingly forever sunny and we had great times just ‘being’ – slightly dirty, socks pulled down, grass patches on our knees, chasing after marbles – I had a great collection of ‘tigres and others’ – marbles I kept in large, empty matchbox boxes !
Beautifully stated Kiki. “Seemingly forever sunny”. That’s it. Right there.
