A poet is someone
Who can pour Light into a spoon,
Then raise it
To nourish
Your beautiful, parched holy mouth.
~ Hafiz, “Your Beautiful, Parched Holy Mouth” in I Heard God Laughing: Poems of Hope and Joy: Renderings of Hafiz (Penguin, 2006)

I‘m in love…. Anyone who can write like this, is a poetic God to me! (And beautiful pairing – thank you!)
Amazing, right!!! And so long ago.
Love Hafiz. A God of words and wisdom 👏
Yes!
Wonderful!
comfort soup for the heart and soul
And a Poetry lover
is someone who’s parched mouth
can’t be quenched.
The fire in their mouth can’t be put out.
Yes!
You know, Rumi wasn’t Rumi really until he met Hafiz. Their friendship was beautiful! It gave birth to most of their poetry.
did not know that…
Apology! I take what I said back. It was his friendship with Shams of Tabriz, not Shams that is Hafiz.
Beautiful words. Perfect image. Nailed it.
Thanks Val…

Speaking of beautiful poets, I am sure you heard the sad news of Mary Oliver’s death…
