Here I am alone with silence.

I have discovered that it is enough when a single note is beautifully played.

This one note, or a silent beat, or a moment of silence, comforts me.

    Love Pärt, have been singing Pärt, listen to this CD often … must be the lonely plains of the North. More soothing than the rain…

  9. I recently began listening to Arvo Pärt in the early mornings as I read my favorite blogs … and especially Spiegel Im Spiegle (for Cello and Piano) and Fur Alina. He’s been a favorite of mine since the turn of the century. Makes me seem old when I say it that way, doesn’t it? Both of these masterpieces remind me of the quote:
