Very cute. You can get hummingbird moths too (Hummingbird hawkmoths) that like feeding on flowers, like Valerian, in the daytime.

Amazing, have never seen the hummingbird moths….

People have sometimes spotted them in Canada and other countries but apparently the hummingbird moths do prefer warmer climates and are more likely to be resident in North Africa, southern Europe and points east. Though they do migrate to Britain around May and June and with the warmer winters even stay longer. I suppose, like many things, you have to be in the right place at the right time to see them.

I’ve never seen such a swarm! And all the little peeps.
I have a friend who does wildlife rescue and recovery. She watched a team band hummingbirds. The scientists said that hummies rank right up with bees and Monarch butterflies in eco-health indicators.

Didn’t know that (the eco-health indicator). Thanks for sharing.

I love those birds. The first day we moved upstate Ct. I was on my back deck. Something whizzed by that I thought was a large bee. Then I saw it sucking nectar from a flower and love watching them ever since.

David, I tried to play this and got a message saying this video does not exist. I know it did at one time as I see all the comments. Maybe you took it down to make room for more. Anyway, thought I should tell you.

Ahhhh shame. I tried to find it Lisa, and had no luck. I didn’t take it down, and I couldn’t find the original. Thanks for letting me know.
