  1. No out takes?! (understandable — they aren’t inspiring) I was a gymnast in high school for a while. Side horse and rope climb — (I didn’t like being up side down!) To learn moves on the horse I had to be willing to fall dozens of times. Fail and fall over and over. The guys on the high bar did too but they had two spotters the whole time they were falling and failing. The finished products are thrilling but the whole story includes the failures that lead to the successes. There was a TV show that started with the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. Defeat was represented by a guy wiping out on the ski jump. I never wanted to be a daredevil — but it sure is amazing to see what people can accomplish.

    1. Yes, Frank so true. Susan (my wife) was a gymnast in college. I saw first hand the number of falls of the various apparatus to get to a mastery level. Yes, lot’s of pain before beauty.

  2. Wow. And to think of all the attempts they survived (thinking of the leaping between buildings, jumping bikes/boards down stairways, diving from incredible heights . . .) in order to be able to do any of these successfully. Amazing.
