- “Humps and hair. That’s the scene in Bulgan Soum, a tiny Mongolian town in the middle of the Gobi Desert about 160 miles north of the Chinese border. Bactrian camels arrive in all directions on foot, bearing bundled-up riders wedged between their two humps. It’s early March. While the sky is cloudless, the wind can pick up quickly. Officially called the Thousand Camel Festival, the crowd that arrives for the kickoff appears to consist of 100 camels. The two-day festival begins with a camel beauty pageant.” Don’t miss full story and video at NPR: Where Camels Become Beauty Queens: Inside Mongolia’s Biggest Camel Festival. I’m sure Caleb would be a contender…
Contender? After winning 8 years in a row, the Mongolians have banned him from the event.
The fix is in
Ha! It is…
If you’ve got good hair, you’re halfway home!
It’s all about the hair.
And the product. That’s very important, too. 😉
The “Product.” Of course! “Would you like any Product, Sir.” I hear that when I get my hair cut. Always makes me pause.
Oh it is ALL about the product, pal. You should give it a try. 😉
ha. it’s no longer about “The Product.” What I need him/her to say, “How about some more hair on your head to fill the gaps?”
Seemed like they had a blow dryer to get that fluffy look. Wonder how big that blow dryer was.
No doubt!
Must be quite the sight.

There was also elsewhere in blogland a link to a video and an informative text on a group of Mongolians taking a loooooong treck to render ppl attentif to their way of living. Seems to be a happening ‘dans le vent’
Smiling. Classic Kiki!
btw; I own the film ‘The Story of the Weeping Camel’ and it’s one to really touch the soul!
When I think that, as children, we called each other ‘dumb camel’ when we wanted to hurt each other! 😉
Never heard of that movie. Will check it out.
It is beautiful, although just reading the title you might think it dull. But it really shows the tenderness and soul in this creature.
I’m on it…
This is so cool!!
It is!
Bundle up boys! A cold day ahead.
