As deep as I ever went into the forest
I came upon an old stone bench, very, very old,
and around it a clearing, and beyond that
trees taller and older than I had ever seen.
Such silence!
It really wasn’t so far from a town, but it seemed
all the clocks in the world had stopped counting.
So it was hard to suppose the usual rules applied.
Sometimes there’s only a hint, a possibility.
What’s magical, sometimes, has deeper roots
than reason.
I hope everyone knows that.
I sat on the bench, waiting for something.
An angel, perhaps.
Or dancers with the legs of goats.
No, I didn’t see either. But only, I think, because
I didn’t stay long enough.

A beautiful Sunday morning!!
It is!
What’s magical, always, has deeper roots
than reason.
I too hope everyone knows that.
Can you imagine? Had she stayed long enough…
Yes, and if had we?
She offers the magical to us…
She really does…
Oh Mary, grateful for you who expresses the ineffable joy and magic of the forests. <3
She IS magic Peg.
Leave room and space for the magic and it will come…usually when you least expect it….
Let it flow…
perfect.
i LOVE Mary Oliver, David. Thank you.
Me too Ann.

Yes, we do have to wait a little longer.
And some of us, much longer. 🙂
The photo, reminds me of a quote I see when I go awalkin’:
“You haven’t seen a tree until you’ve seen its shadow from the sky.”,,,Amelia Earhart
I took some photos of trees and the bark of some big old timers, today..75 degrees & beautiful sunlight and sky…and coincidentally I read a very short article and then watched the accompanying, amazing video : http://www.treehugger.com/natural-sciences/trees-can-form-bonds-old-couple-and-look-after-each-other.html I’d planned on leaving it as a reply to your former offering of the elderly man who loved trees and said goodby to those friends in his yard…
Love the photo that opens the article.
75 F. Nice!

Stunning in its simplicity
Lots of love here. MAN that felt good!
Smiling. Great!
We don’t see the magic because we don’t sit long enough… ah yes 💛
That, is truth (for me). Right there.
