Saturday Morning

If you love home—and even if you don’t—there is nothing quite as cozy, as comfortable, as delightful, as that first week back. That week, even the things that would irritate you—the alarm waahing from some car at three in the morning; the pigeons who come to clutter and cluck on the windowsill behind your bed when you’re trying to sleep in—seem instead reminders of your own permanence, of how life, your life, will always graciously allow you to step back inside of it, no matter how far you have gone away from it or how long you have left it.

  1. I LOVED this book…thought about it for weeks after I finished. And this photo is great…exactly the way my Lab sleeps with me (either that or wrapped around my head like a bonnet). 😊

      1. Be sure and give it a little time. I found it a bit difficult to get rolling, but once I did, I was hooked. I would be lying if I said it were an easy read, but it is powerful….

    1. Your thought reminds of a post by Mystical Fool:

      We live to go back to where we came from, to finally realize on the deepest level of soul, that we are constantly being beckoned to come out, grow up, live out our flames, and fly away home.

      and,

      Treading along in this dreamlike, illusory realm,
      Without looking for the traces I may have left;
      A cuckoo’s song beckons me to return home;
      Hearing this, I tilt my head to see
      Who has told me to turn back;
      But do not ask me where I am going,
      As I travel in this limitless world,
      Where every step I take is my home.

      and, this,

      We have to learn to go deeper.. to allow. Life will not hurt us. Only that which will help us to grow will come our way. Be silent in your heart. Trust the Source of all things. Everything is on schedule. Everyone is going home. It Is ok……

  2. This brought back a memory that I have not shared with anyone.
    Only my husband knows.
    I was homeless for one night in my entire life, one night. Not for financial reasons. I was stuck between the borders of 2 countries over night
    One county won’t let me in, the other closed their border offices after midnight. I slept over my duffle bag, used my purse as a pillow, called my dad making sure my number doesn’t show only to hear his voice, hung up, fell asleep crying. Something was howling as I fell sleep.
    Slept under the fullest full moon of September of 2003.

    Home is precious. ..

  3. The vintage image is gorgeous…Sleeping beauty, sleeping in peace…thanks to the faithful, beautiful protector.
