That is definitely not Fort Lauderdale beach. Our beach is currently dotted with protected sea turtle nests. The other night, my nieces, sister and I witnessed the rarest turtle hatchlings, the leather back turtle, (about 50 of them) emerge from the sand, most headed the wrong way and towards the artificial light. If not for the tireless work of Sea Shepherd volunteers from all over the world and from a local organization called STOP, these little guys would have certainly died. As it is, once they “safely” reach the water, they have only a 1 in 1000 chance of survival. It was truly a miraculous experience for us! I’m so honored they share their beach with us.
