Lightly child, lightly

butterfly-finger

cautiously, I allowed
myself to feel good
at times.
I found moments of
peace in cheap
rooms
just staring at the
knobs of some
dresser
or listening to the
rain in the
dark.
the less i needed
the better i
felt.

~ Charles Bukowski, Let It Enfold You

Notes:

  • Post Title & Inspiration: Aldous Huxley: “It’s dark because you are trying too hard. Lightly child, lightly. Learn to do everything lightly. Yes, feel lightly even though you’re feeling deeply. Just lightly let things happen and lightly cope with them.”

  8. Excellent poem – always love Charles Bukowski! And he is so right – we need so much less, the simple things are more true than anything else. 🙂
