Share Inspired by Annie Dillard, Pilgrim at Tinker Creek:
“We bump against another mystery: the inrush of power and light, the canary that sings on the skull. Unless all ages and races of men have been deluded by the same mass hypnotist (who?), there seems to be such a thing as beauty, a grace wholly gratuitous…”

The perfect way to clear one’s head – salt air and sea spray.
Yes, yes it certainly is. Thanks for sharing.
Perhaps a grace totally inexplicable…but ‘gratuitous’? Against this mysterious, gorgeous backdrop of the ocean and one boy/man? Not so sure (with all due respect for and delight in Annie Dillard)
I think my excerpt / splicing cut out the environment in which she uses the word “gratuitous”….but your point is well taken in the context of what I shared.
Mmmm, I needed that. Thank you. 🙂
My pleasure…

Exactly where I am … the beauty is unmeasurable!
It is. Thanks for sharing Horty.
The ocean, all of nature, both beautiful and formidable.
Thank you for the power and light, David.
Thank you Ann
There is something about the power of the ocean that mesmerizes me. The sound, the beauty, the power. But I think the guy on the bottom is a little too close.
Smiling. Ocean has the same impact on me. And yes, he is a wee bit close.
Nature is beautiful at its most raw, but equally dangerous, something that demands respect.
Power and light, truly forces to be reckoned with David!
They are Debra. They are.

Bringing memories back of Fantasy Island again! 🙂

Beautiful pictures and the last one makes you a bit anxious yet it is thrilling
They are Tina…and yes, the last one is a wee bit tight.
