Or. Don’t End. Don’t End. Don’t End.

When you finish a book and want to start another but you think the one you just finished deserves a moment of silence.

  1. All things end.
Yet there is time for pause and reflection.
    Let it marinate and incubate.
Give it time to be absorbed into our sub conscious being.
    And then let it go.

In that way I figure I can access it later if needed 😉

  2. And then there’s the book you don’t want to end. I have a few of those on my shelf. That’s called finiphobia. 🙂

  3. Out loud I was saying… Oh, yes, yes yes.
I feel this way with most books. When I finished Unbroken, I think it was a good three or four months before I could let myself fall into any other book, and I think it had to be a light, easy transition relationship book! . .

  4. I am always a bit sad when I’ve finished a good book because I am saying goodbye to friends who have kept me company for a few weeks (or months). Yes, a moment of silence …

  5. OH YES…”Behind The Beautiful Forever” – received several days of silent deference, Hilary Mantel’s books about Thomas Cromwell, can someone give me an amen for Harper Lee…oh this could take awhile….

  6. ABSOLUTELY! I’ved been marinating in “The Painter” for a couple of weeks now. I keep reviewing certain passages in my mind and marveling at the acuity of the image the author sketches with his prose. Love. Love, love a good book….

    1. (Red Faced) Oh no. I actually bought The Painter sample on Kindle after you recommended it earlier. Read a chapter. Didn’t get hooked. And set it down. You are prodding me to go back again.

      1. You have to give this one a bit of “running room,” DK. It doesn’t grab you from the first paragraph. But trust me, once the hook is set, you’re done….
