Žydrūnas Savickas, 38, is a Lithuanian powerlifter and professional strongman. He is widely considered to be one of the greatest strongman competitors of all time. He is the only modern strongman competitor to have won every major strongman competition, most notably the World’s Strongest Man in 2009, 2010, & 2012. He is 6 ft 3 in tall and competes at 385 lb. Savickas is often referred to by his nickname, “Big Z”. (Source: Wiki)
This month, Savickas broke the Guinness world record for the most cars pulled by one man when he hauled 12 Nissan Cars (28,530 pounds) for five meters in Druskininkai, Lithuania. See video here.
What is your diet like during heavy training?
I eat about 6,000 calories a day, plus I drink four or five litres of water and three protein shakes with milk or water. I eat four times a day, mainly cottage cheese, eggs, chicken, beef, fish, rice, potatoes, vegetables and fruit juices. My favourite food is Steak and Potatoes. I monitor my body weight. If I just need power for a competition then I eat fried food. But if I also need speed or endurance, such as in the World’s Strongest Man competition, I eat more healthily. I’m very careful with alcohol: I have a glass of white wine perhaps two or three times a year. (Source: Men’s Fitness)

Crazy. The weights look like the dumb bells you would see in cartoons…..
That weight would crush me to the ground like a pancake. Insane.
Ok, I’m sort of inspired. But I think I’ll start small – go lift a VW Beetle or something.
🙂 Or pull one.
Yeah – or pull one…laughing. I have to have some more coffee first (it’s the beverage of choice for this power lifter)
Sad, but I kept thinking as I was watching the video, if that was me, I’d need to put on a diaper.
I’m sorry but that just has me laughing…a diaper? That’s all? And how do you know he doesn’t have one on?
Now I’m laughing. Maybe!
I know. TMI.
oh my. guess i’ve followed his ‘if i need power for a competition i eat fried foods’ option one too many times. apparently i was confused and didn’t know it was just for this purpose.
Smiling. Serves others purposes for the rest of us too!
Back in my youth, I worked out with my brother-in-law, a competitive weight-lifter. I never felt more bad-ass in my life.
I bet you were a bad-a**! 🙂
Some things are just not right to do…that’s what I think. My son is a total health and fitness nut and does that Crossfit Training…and I’ve seen videos of him both pulling a car (as part of their fitness regimen) and lifting scary weights. I honestly don’t think human bodies were meant to do that crazy stuff…or even eat the number of calories that someone needs to eat in order to do that crazy stuff.
There are ends of a long tail. Men like him, there are few, rest at the ends.
What are those two skinny guys standing at each end of the bar bell going to do if he wobbles or falls?
Really good question.
da–…. that boy is strong! I can see me pushing 500lbs at leg press.. but that boy is squatting a cool 1,500lbs. Never thought this could be done and to top it all a cool 7 reps. Strong man indeed,,,
Amazing feat, I agree Paco.
