Sunday Morning: Haleakala. House of the Sun

“On a recent trip to Maui, I had the opportunity to visit the world’s largest dormant volcano – Haleakala. The size of this volcano is massive – Manhattan could fit inside. I’m still in shock at how awesome this place is. Arriving before sunrise, I placed a few cameras out in hopes to capture what people refer to as, “The most beautiful sunrise in the world.”  People gather from around the globe to witness this kaleidoscope of shifting colors – known as the “House of the Sun”. My hope is to give you a small glimpse of the energy, excitement and elegance this natural marvel brings.”  Good Sunday Morning.

      1. Personal opinion is that Maui is the best island for a vacation, with the busy, hotel side, and the Hana, very restful, peaceful side. And the Volcano is pretty much in the middle.

  1. I, too, have had the privilege of being on the volcano for sunrise–got up there at around 4 a.m., watched the sun come up — magnificent! – and then biked down. It’s definitely a breathtaking experience and one that should go on your bucket list, David. 🙂

      1. It really is….you feel like you’re on the top of the world watching the first sunrise EVER. It is mystical, no two ways about it. When you first get up to the top, the sky is a blanket of stars, and then the sun begins its slow march upward — the colors are exquisite, the sweep of the sky unmatched. You must go, David, you must…..
