Shake Shake Shake

Grand Prize Winner, Busaba, Idochonise Tigress, Thailand


Out of 22,000 entries, this was National Geographics’ 2012 Grand-Prize Photo Contest Winner: The Explosion! The subject’s name is Busaba, a well cared for Indochinese Tigress whose home is at Khao Kheow Open Zoo, Thailand.

    • Isn’t she though? Incredible. I’m 1/2 through a movie called Mammoth. During one scene, the key player sees this wonderful elephant by the side of the road in the midst of some Palm trees. (Believe he’s in Thailand. He’s an American.) He then glances down and sees that the elephant’s foot is chained to the tree. Haven’t been able to shake this image since I started watching the movie on Saturday.

      • And you stopped watching at that point?? I know this sounds like I’m a wuss (I am), but I can’t watch any animal being compromised like that. When I was little, my dad had to take me home from the circus as soon as I saw the first animal act – I haven’ changed much since then (in terms of animals that is).

  3. Whenever I see a tiger like this, I think of Shir Khan from The Jungle Book. He always gave me a nervous thrill when he entered the scene….
