“…maybe that’s the lesson for me today. to hold on to these simple moments. to appreciate them a little more. there’s not many of them left. i don’t ever want that for you, finding things that make you happy shouldn’t be so hard. i know you’ll face pain, suffering, hard choices, but you can’t let the weight of it choke the joy out of your life. no matter what you have to find the things that love you; run to them. there’s an old saying: that which does not kill you makes you stronger. i don’t believe that. i think the things that try to kill you make you angry and sad. strength comes from the good things: your family, your friends, the satisfaction of hard work. those are the things that keep you whole, those are the things to hold on to when you’re broken.”

Perfect combination of image and words – you did it again. “I think the things that try to kill you make you angry and sad. Strength comes from the good things..” Words to remember when sliding down the slope of tired thinking.
I found both the image and the quote to be powerful. I was bringing them together and they were coming no matter what. 🙂 Thanks Mimi.
Reblogged this on photographyofnia.
Thank you for sharing Nia…have a good week.
Love the positivity of this message, David, especially as we enter “election week.” (Thank God!). Embrace the positive!! 🙂
Yes, we’re tryin’ (to embrace the positive on that subject)…Have a good day Lori.
Things that try to kill us (slowly), suck the positive spirit out of us are the ones to watch and deal with, as you so beautifully quote here. Great and as alway spot on message. thanks.
Thank you for your kind words. I agree.
This is so good. I always try to find the light and the good……
Pain is weakness leaving the body.
Dale, I sat and pondered about this for a while. Deep (for me). Thank you for sharing. Have me thinking…
Yes, it could be a deep proverb to envision. But, physical, mental, emotional, spiritual (etc.) pain is something that all people have to contend with from one extreme to another. It is difficult to imagine coming out of certain ‘pain’ stronger and more prepared for the road forward. But, as with any ‘exercise’ of life, our pain is most certainly conditioning for a stronger future. By the way, ‘Pain is weakness leaving the body’ is a slogan commonly used by the Marine Corps.
Thanks Dale. Appreciate the insights. I didn’t know this was the Marine Corps slogan. Makes sense.
Actually have been watching that show. Amazing graphic! Love this part…”i think the things that try to kill you make you angry and sad. strength comes from the good things: your family, your friends, the satisfaction of hard work. those are the things that keep you whole, those are the things to hold on to when you’re broken.” Thanks Dave…great inspiration to start a new week!
I’ve never seen the show. Will need to check it out. Thanks Lorne.
The image and the words are inspiring and on point.
Love this, David. The image is amazing, and the quote, so inspirational. Have a great week. 🙂
Thanks AD. You too…
Wise words.
Yes, agree with you George.
Very insightful. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Jenni
Love the combination of quote and picture … but pain can come in many shapes and forms.
Yes, so agree. (For example, physical pain and injury so be considered outside of this realm)
WOW!
BE ENCOURAGED! BE BLESSED!
I had same reaction!
