Katharine Hepburn: Grind it out…

“The thing about life is that you must survive. Life is going to be difficult, and dreadful things will happen. What you do is move along, get on with it, and be tough. Not in the sense of being mean to others, but being tough with yourself and making a deadly effort not to be defeated.”

  1. I can hear her deep, Brahmin voice…somehow when she says this it’s almost like a command. And a sound one at that…A bit of tough is a requisite to continuing..

  2. She’s always struck me as one tough broad and a force to be reckoned with when, for a woman, that just wasn’t “cool.” Ahh, that we could all bring the same amount of élan to the table. What a battle cry for a Monday morning!! :-).

  3. Wonderful – stops me in my tracks. Have to save that ….to ponder and remember. BTW- I sent a link to your post on the Cranky Man to my brother – his response, “that’s a keeper”. It resonated with him, just as I thought.

  4. She was quite a woman of strength and character. A principled person to the last breath and one to be respected because she was principled even if not always correct.
