“There are some good things to be said about walking. Walking takes longer, for example, than any other known form of locomotion except crawling. Thus it stretches time and prolongs life. Life is already too short to waste on speed. I have a friend who’s always in a hurry; he never gets anywhere. Walking makes the world much bigger and thus more interesting. You have time to observe the details. The utopian technologists foresee a future for us in which distance is annihilated and anyone can transport himself anywhere, instantly. Big deal, Buckminster. To be everywhere at once is to be nowhere forever, if you ask me.”

David, this is so true. I have found over the past few years that walking gives me the opportunity to soak in the surrounds in which I am in. Last September I was staying in an apartment in Venice, Italy and went out at night and just walked for miles up and down the small alley ways, it was amazing. Just having the time to take it all in was an unforgettable experience. Reading this post brought those wonderful memories back to me. Thank you!
Tina, I’ve never been so Venice or Southern Italy. Your description above makes me want to go there now…Dave
Dave, take the time to do it, as none of us know how much time we have been allotted, use it well.

This post is MINE: I am claiming it because I am such an addicted walker! The world IS much larger; and you can actually SEE, HEAR, SMELL, TOUCH, and even TASTE (on the wind or the fingertip!) the world as you walk through it! Fabulous post: I totally agree with you!
Made me smile yet again. ALL MINE!
Great thoughts! It’s ying and yang. It’s ok to move forward at a fast pace but you also need to slow down and enjoy the moment too.
On point Mike….
