Lightly Child, Lightly.

You will get more of those as you get older. Like the strange small contentment that can sometimes be traced to grief or tears, living alongside the pain. Or the bittersweet knowledge that all things must pass.

Matt Haig, The Life Impossible (Viking, September 3, 2024)

Notes: Post Title & Inspiration: Aldous Huxley: “It’s dark because you are trying too hard. Lightly child, lightly. Learn to do everything lightly. Yes, feel lightly even though you’re feeling deeply. Just lightly let things happen and lightly cope with them.

  1. I finished this book over the weekend. I love Matt Haig, though I didn’t love this one as I did The Midnight Library. Anything with a lot of number sequencing intimidates me🥴

        1. Dear Mimi,
I obviously don’t know you well, but through your comments in this blog, my impression is that you are wise. 💕 Yet you are so modest about it! Many of us have learned a great deal over the course of our lives. Please don’t be hard on yourself or modest about the content of your comments. It is OK to be “Wise and Wonderful”! Blessings – Paul

          1. Hi Paul – you offer me such high praise and I am pretty certain it’s undeserved. You are right though – we learn a lot as we travel through life and ideally we should wear that experience with greater pride. I’ll try – and in the interim, you have truly made my day…thank you

          2. I have sent three replies to your comment Mimi, but none have showed up. Strange, but not unusual with WordPress. I am trying to send the following in response to your comment about “high praise.”…
My response is simply this: 💕❤️💕

          1. I know your book pile has to be huge, but don’t pass on this one because of me. It’s a quick read at worst, or one that you’ll love at best.

  2. I not only loved The Midnight Library and I cannot recommend it highly enough! So I most certainly would read this one too, if only I could – on the other hand it is highly improbably that you can re-create such a tremendous high-flyer like that Midnight Library. Which doesn‘t meant hat this new book might not be good. I would like to know your readers‘ opinion on both. The story sounds intriguing enough to spike my interest.

    1. Hi Kiki. Mimi, in comments above, said this one fell short of Midnight Library and book reviews seems to indicate the same. So, I’ll wait for all of you to read it and let me know.

      1. But you DO have and make your own opinions?!
        Just wondering…
I looked up some reviews and they made me rather want to read it. And we want YOUR views; readers can still decide otherwise than you. So please!
        If needed, re-read Swasan’s comment 😉
