Ask her what she craved
and she’d get a little frantic
about things like books, the woods, music.
Plants.
Seasons.
Also freedom.

that’s me (too)…. add to this: seeing friends, discussions….
Sounds about right…
Yep.
The one point always making me bristle a bit: Why is it so often men who write about women’s feelings? How can they know how women think, feel, act? Just wondering.
As I think (mostly) highly of Guardian’s reviews, I add here their early opinion for your perusal: https://www.theguardian.com/books/2011/oct/14/nightwoods-charles-frazier-review
I think it must be hard to write (accurately!) about the opposite gender — it often has seemed (to me) that both are either too glorified or too demonized.
TRUTH KIKI. Truth. LET”S HEAR IT FOR MAN POWER!
Let’s hear it for the power of all humans! 🙂
I had never given this any serious thought, but totally agree. How could one possibly write accurately about the thoughts and emotions of the opposite gender? I don’t think it’s possible. A book, co-authored by a woman and a man together would be an interesting read!
I love this author…and I appreciate the anxiety when considering all that I value, and I too can’t put them in a sequential order (after health and family)…
Love the Mimi Mind. Gears spinning, sequentially, non-sequentially, but spinning forward.
Explains with far greater generosity than I deserve – there’s just a mess of stuff going on in my head – and all of it set to an ever changing jukebox that keeps time with my spinning…I’m grateful you love it – for the other choice would be a migraine…
LOL!
Lovely photo, DK — I suspect you trod gently through those fallen leaves.
I so get this
Me too!
A lovely inviting woods–is that photo by you? Like the idea of just being THERE…forget itemizing.
Yes. Agree. Yes!
How many days now? Is Wally allowed to play around at the park yet?
1183 consecutive days (almost), like in a row. Funny you should ask Melinda. Wally, Susan and I have gone 3 mornings in a row this week. by mid morning, Wally is totally gassed!
Great! When is his best bud Sully coming to stay.
I feel her….
Yes!
The vibrancy of colours in your photos… Always so beautiful.
Thank you Laila!
Your beautiful photo looks like the fresh beauty & coolness of Spring’s (not summer) full Gift…inviting one in to rest…/// Charles Frazier, Nightwoods: A Novel, read the brief synopsis paragraph on Amazon and I say – sounds like a great novel…Yes!
Thank you. The book is on my list to read too!
btw regarding my earlier comment: saying Spring. In my neck of the woods that beautiful green is the bright, fresh flush of green in the spring, the return of deciduous canopy, life …We are surrounded my Green, Green everywhere – Emerald city, yes…it is a sight to behold all shades of Green Everywhere!!! We’ve lost lots of 300 -500 years old trees to the fires…So Sad…
So many fires. Heartbreaking.
Green! So green! How inspirational!
