hello everyone. wally here. dad took that shot above. not all that flattering, certainly not my best side. and if you thought i looked irritated, you pegged it right. dad shouted at me and told me to “get the hell out from under the chair!” because he knew what i was doing. what is it with this human need to follow me around when i have to poop. mom told dad earlier today that she caught me crawling under the outdoor furniture pooping. she didn’t know what i was doing on monday and tuesday, but now she understood. she told dad that I started pooping on the grass on the wet leaves and then ran under the furniture to finish. and that she found a number of wally deposits lined up in a cute little row. well, she got most of the story right (like i did line them up in a cute little row), but leave it to mom to miss the entire point. what about the right to a little wally privacy. i don’t go into the bathroom with mom with she’s in there pushing out her spinach. and there goes dad, who’s poop doesn’t smell (he told me that). dad started in on mom again about the need for discipline to start early: “did you notice that he doesn’t shat wherever he wants when he’s with me. there needs to be a bit of fear in this training regime. like he did with the kids.” mom walked away mumbling something about 39 years of this, THIS! she shouted. so after all this settled down, i decided to play in my toy basket. dad looks over, and says look at your animal. apparently i should have taken one toy out at a time to play, but why bother when you can jump right in and play with all of them at the same time. i looked at mom, she gave me a little wink which made me feel better. dad grunted and told mom to watch my back end, there could be another ‘cute little row on the tile.’ so, that’s it for tonight. hope to see you again on the weekend. good night!
Oh precious Wally. You’re a right little terror sometimes…. luckily you’re also cuteness personified. Try to do your neat little rows ONLY outside and every other malfunctioning will be gladly overlooked. I wish you strong digestive muscles and the willpower to control them better soon. Love from auntie Kiki❤️

you need to talk to your folks about their micro-managing, as you grow, get into a bit of good mischief and get better at everything. luckily you are so very cute so you can get away with a lot of missteps

Oh, this is bringing back memories of puppy training with Emma. It will sort itself out eventually. Meanwhile, back at the ranch … all hell will continue to break loose for a little longer. But one day Wally will learn to “ride off into the sunset” out to the grassy area to do his thing in the OK Corral.

I want to keep the puppy forever, but have puppy potty trained, if you follow me!

Yeah, I do. The Captain says our next dog will be the kind you don’t have to feed (and that should also take care of the “process” that follows). But think of people babies and the things their parents put up with while they’re getting potty trained. That’s life. It’s shitty sometimes. Sigh. All I can say is it’s a good thing puppies and babies are so cute.

Wally, you bring back memories of my dear Dobe Emma as a wee pup. She somehow got things confused and thought she should *only* do her business when inside…would hold it religiously when *outside* so as not to soil the lawn. 🙄 It took a bit of time (and more than a few gray hairs for mom), but we finally got it sorted and she was a rock star ever after…never another accident in the house. Tell Mom and Dad they must praise you unmercifully and pump you full of treats with alacrity the minute you do your thing in a properly sanctioned spot and before long, you’ll be rockin’ the whole potty business like a champ. ❤️

Nope, no way. She was a fabulous dog and wicked smart. She was just a little confused initially, but we got it sorted. Tell Dad you’ll work on potty training if he’ll work on nurturing his patience. (That’ll rile him up for sure.)

You’re doing great, Wally. It’s always harder to learn when both parents have different styles. I have faith you will figure out how to make them both proud

Being half of a parenting couple teaches you things. Plus I had this great dog Zeke. He would have been so kind with you. He was a really smart guy and even though he was pretty darn big, he was so gentle with smaller guys like you 🙂
