Lightly Child, Lightly.

…And go to work each day
And when the evening rolls around
I’ll go on home and lay my body down
And when the morning light comes streaming in
I’ll get up and do it again
Amen
Say it again
Amen

—  Jackson Browne, from “The Pretender” (1976)

Notes:

  • Post Title & Inspiration: Aldous Huxley: “It’s dark because you are trying too hard. Lightly child, lightly. Learn to do everything lightly. Yes, feel lightly even though you’re feeling deeply. Just lightly let things happen and lightly cope with them.”

  1. Like it….
There is a huge difference in music styles between Europe and the US – this is an excellent example of these different tastes. When I lived for a short while in Canada, I got used to that style of music, but although we bought LPs then that ‘trend’ didn’t stick with me. What I find so fascinating is that we all can agree to just simply LOVE MUSIC – whatever style, direction, age. It makes us happy, sad, brings us forward in the day – so: Approved! 😉

  2. This is so cute. First time hearing it. And I thought it’s just another Go to work, and repeat the next morning song.
    Paint by numbers, wow…

          1. So many “planets” out there! And I’m only talking about the ones on Planet Earth. I even have a planet of my own.

  3. Love Jackson Browne and CSN – together, just a bonus! I love how musicians can come together like this. Music is the great unifier.
And yeah… The Pretender – we all are to some extent, aren’t we?

  4. “I wanna see you holding out your light
I wanna see you light the way
Beyond the sirens in the broken night
Beyond the sickness of our day
And after all we’ve come to live with
I wanna know if you’re ok
I wanna think it’s gonna be alright
It’s just a little soon to say”
