Thank you for sharing. Tomorrow, I will share my favorite, what camera took what picture and which picture I felt best captured the moment as I saw it.
Bottom photo better.
Same settings?
Thank you for sharing. Tomorrow, I will share my favorite, what camera took what picture and which picture I felt best captured the moment as I saw it. Both photos were using standard autofocus settings.
Also, a minute makes a big difference this time of the day.
Hmmmm. You taking that from personal experience?
What I’m saying is that you have to control all your variables.
And, yes, from my experience, watching the sunrise for years, a minute makes a big difference.
Both pictures have to be taken at the same time for an accurate comparison.
Where’s your tripod?
Ask a question and get kicked in the teeth. You and Kiki, so unusually aggressive.
Both taken without tripod. Both taken almost at same time.
LAUGHING…
There has to be something in the air!!!
Not in the air. Out of your mouths. Wear a mask.
This is with the mask on!
Oh. Further precautions necessary. Masks on. Lips shut tight.
Hhhmmm
Very good!!!!!
No NO NO! That was not me shutting my lips tight.
That was me planning my next move.
Go back re read instructions. Mask on Lips shut tight. Practice. You’ll get it.
Never
The bottom image (despite the lack of light). The top image overall is better, but I prefer the heron(?) in silhouette of the bottom image.
I’ve experienced major differences using different cameras and lenses, so know that both images are ok.

Top image by far. Much more interesting composition IMHO. Love the texture in the foreground (the silhouette of the branch is arresting) and the lacework of the utility poles along the right edge both catches the eye and keeps your gaze within the frame. Also like the strong light/dark contrast.

I prefer the top shot, warmer. good suggestion, jim b.
Thank you for sharing. Tomorrow, I will share my favorite, what camera took what picture and which picture I felt best captured the moment as I saw it. And yes, great idea by Jim.
The first one, as it clearly depicts the awakening of life…under the kiss of blush…ps I like the power lines in the first one…
Thank you for sharing. Tomorrow, I will share my favorite, what camera took what picture and which picture I felt best captured the moment as I saw it. Yes, on the powerlines. Didn’t realize I left them out on lower shot.
Love the luminosity of the first one 😎

Hands down the second pic! Clarity, hope, peace, music, AND silhouettes galore.

They are both great but I like the first one best as it has a warmer feel to it.

The top one, though I would try to level the water to flat horizontal rather than its current slight tilt. It’s warmer and speaks of sunrise.
The bottom photo is tonally too muddy. There’s no light detail and no distinctly dark contrast. Also, the right side of the shot lacks the compositional closure the bit of land gives the top shot, balancing the land on the other side, even though the power lines are a bit of clutter. That detail invites the eye out into the bay beyond before returning to the heron or egret in the foreground.
Wow, such an amazing analysis and perspective. Thank you for sharing Jnana.
I agree, though I would never have been able to say what you did so well.
This is bloody creepy – on the reader, the light filled one was the second – then I wanted to go back to your post and it was the other way round…. what the heck?! To be clear, I go for the more atmospheric one, the one with the light…. and f… you WP for messing things up in such a way. How about I’d never looked at the actual post?
Ha!
So, you know how to judge MY feelings on the golden shot?! Anyway, what do you mean with ‘Ha’!!??
Laughing. So testy.
whatever….
I like the second one, I can feel the sun coming up.

So what is this???? Now your taking request?
Laughing. No.
It sounding like it from the bottom note on the comments.
It was!
I like the second one since there are two birds and their shadows. And I just like the deeper colors like a bruise.
Thank you for sharing. I’m holding my commentary on which camera is which, my favorite and what I thought most closely represented what I saw at the moment! Thank you again.
Top one for me too!
There is something mysterious and ethereal about it that calls my senses to awaken.

How interesting that they were taken a minute apart. The top one (preferred) looks like it was taken in early morning; the bottom one looks like it was taken at sunset.
Exactly Donna. And I was on site for both. And one of them was Fantasy Island, a place I’ve never visited. More tomm.
No need to give me your canned response ( 😉 ), I shall add my voice to preferring the top one for all the reasons specified so perfectly by Jnana and look forward to learning which is your favourite 😉
K. Thanks Dale.
😉
Top one for me. Love the warm color. Also the Framing is better. The telephone poles on right help frame the photo in balance with taller trees on left side. Also I like the telephone poles showing this nature spot is right there on edge of our modern world. Better story.
Thank you for sharing Michael. My perspective coming tomorrow. Hope you and family are well.
I can’t decide, because both of them are beautiful and they have their own stories into the different lights… Thank you, Love, nia
They are. Thank you Nia….
I like the bottom. Not as much glare.
Thanks Steve.
The bottom one is my fave. I have a strong feeling it was taken with your actual camera.
Genius. You are genius. Correct!
I don’t know which one I like better – I am just amazed how different the colors are in the two photos! I’ll be curious to read your thoughts tomorrow…
So agree Jim. Post is now up.
sorry for the late response here…pick one over the other? impossible for me. You are capturing time, and she will not settle into one image over the other. Full homage to the power of the minute. It’s one picture to me.
Wonderful Answer!
