- Despite a human pandemic, Red River Zoo (Fargo, ND) welcomes new addition (Dickinson Press, March 27, 2020). The Red River Zoo has welcomed a female Bactrian camel, born March 14. Despite the zoo being closed to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic, staff members are working to ensure the health and safety of the new addition, as well as the other animals. (Thank you Christie!)

It is. I thank Christie for serving this wonderful story up.
talk about essential personnel!
Truth!
Good to know the right day of the week, as always. I’m also grateful to whoever came up with the gimmick for remembering the names of the types of camel (one hump or two). The two-hump camel looks like it is carrying a B on its back (B for Bactrian) and the one-hump camel is carrying a D on its back (D for Dromedary). I think we need gimmick for a W camel (W for Wednesday).
Laughing. Yes!
Dear Anneli, a special thank you for this explanation. I was just going to ask and now I know. I DO know that the dromedars have only one bump but this explanation is super-duper! I’m all for a W gimmick.
I never could remember until I heard this.

Baby’s weight at birth 114lbs and now 130 ilbs…I encourage your readers to click the link and read the entire article…the zoo is also seeking donations for animal care…heartbreaking to think of the plight of zoo’s and animal shelters during this time…

What an event and so close to home! Just listened to the devotion coming from the Red River Zoo caretakers–so many giving their all at this time in the helping professions! Do you think it’s easier out in the desert sands?
I don’t think it’s easy anywhere these days.
Hey, Caleb is not social distancing!
He is! This is cousin and nephew….
Awww! They are cuter babies than i realized! No jokes today. I’ll settle for cute!
They are!
