“How did you first find out?”
“That he was a duck?”
He can’t keep a straight face.
My Layla had a similar story when she was little.
And you still don’t believe in reincarnation?

Good parenting all the way around, the ducks mommy and the girl’s parents ….I grew up across from the pond of a very beautiful park and the ducks would come and nest in our yard! Very exciting for us as children…When my child was in middle school there was a pair of mallard duck that came every spring to nest and lay their eggs in an enclosed protected from the ground access (open to the sky) courtyard in the school. Lots of safety and vegetation in the courtyard including a gorgeous Red Cherokee Dog wood tree, so tall the tips of the branches growing decade after decade toward the sky, that the pink flowers explode in Spring above the height of the school’s roof-line… the new school adjacent, should be finished for next fall’s school year…I am going to suggest that the district brings in an arborist to see it the tree can be moved…I have some cute photos of a mallard pair from this spring, I’ll have to email them to you…thank you for the cute video that prompted such warm memories….

Love this…and I too have a duck story. My daughter, Janie, had a wonderful friendship with a Mallard duck named Sapphire when she was young. She had him since he was a baby duckling and he became very attached to Janie. She even taught him how to fly, lol…by putting him on her shoulder, running, and then letting him go. Animal stories are so great. 🙂

Wow. That’s so cool. Fly Sapphire, Fly!

This is such a sweet tale. I love how completely secure she is in the fact that the duck belongs with her–at soccer practice, at sleepovers, etc. And how wonderful that her parents are just rolling with it! Love is love, whatever its guise…

It is so cool Lori. Duck is part of the family.

I guess she wouldn’t be too thrilled with a puppy for Christmas?! 😉 Certainly different! I like the colourful nappies they had on the duck – I wondered how they would avoid the mess!

Puppies are for kids. Now Ducks, geese – now we’re talking

“What???” Everytime I think of her wide eyed reply, it makes me laugh. Sweetest story in a long time. Thanks!
