Riding Metro North. In Delirium.

Missed the 8:36 pm train.
Within Seconds.
9:06 it is.
Doesn’t matter. Just doesn’t matter.
Lit up with a smooth VO Manhattan.
Misted with a fruity Merlo.
Work and worry numbed. Novocaine.
Feeling Easy Like Sunday Morning. On Tuesday.
Hour 17 and on a Midnight Run.

Delirium? Likely.
Darkness? Doubt?  Can’t touch me.

Robin Williams stops by for a chat.
Friend there’s time.
Enjoy Happy Land.
Wallow in the feathery bliss.
A mere 6 hours from re-start
and it’s
Good Morning,Vietnam!

  1. Such descriptive writing…love it. But there’s that word again…”Vietnam”…can’t seem to get away from it this week. Anyway, get some rest, David. 🙂

      1. Probably not…but that’s okay. Here’s a story for you…Michael spent four years in Vietnam after he turned 18, which was a truly horrific experience…and he survived in part because his life was saved in one horrible incident by someone who turned out to be one of his best friends in life. They both survived and have communicated at least once each day since that time…over 40 years. His friend died of a heart attack last Friday night. Yes, Vietnam…the scarring effect it had on the people who came back is something that will never, ever go away. Anyway, have a good day, David…keep writing!

  2. Was it the Fisher King Williams? Dancing with you in Grand Central? What a lovely delirium. Just wait til you get home to let it all out with the stars.

  3. you need a ‘go-to’ lullaby. and then sleep as long as you need to restore and refresh. set up an appointment with yourself. and keep it.
