“One of the saddest realities is most people never know when their lives have reached the summit. Only after it is over and we have some kind of perspective do we realize how good we had it a day, a month, five years ago. The walk together in the December snow, the phone call that changed everything, that lovely evening in the bar by the Aegean. Back then you thought “this is so nice”. Only later did you realize it was the rarest bliss.”

ahhh, now this is the happiest moment!
🙂 Yes…
A reminder to find the bliss now.
Yes…
It’s all in noticing those moments – perhaps we get that as we get a bit older. Yay – a little bit of wisdom gained.
Laughing. Yay. You are so right.
it is now and every moment.
Yes.
This is so true, though I must say on occasion I’ll be in the midst of an experience or moment and think, “Yes, this will stay with me always…” Love the photo, too
Yes, me too Lori. Me too. More so later in life, that’s for sure.
So true. But aren’t you the smart one who now documents all your moments of bliss for us to enjoy through your blog!
Laughing. Not sure about the smart one but I certainly enjoy the bliss of it all too.
I was just thinking about this as I woke this morning…how those special times come and go and how sometimes I didn’t realize it until the time had passed. I wish I was better at staying in the moment.
Me too Ray, me too.
so very very true…………..now I try to take the time to realize it in the moment but it has taken me decades to stop and smell the proverbial roses
Me too….and still working on it.
it is a process
Certainly is…
Maybe that’s why we are given so many chances…
Yes!
The photograph is very evocative and your sentiments are shared. Happiness and sadness are moods of the mind. Bliss is beyond both, for it is beyond the mind. I enjoyed your post, my friend. http://bit.ly/srchhappy
. . . discourses for Going Beyond the Mind
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Kapil. Now to get beyond the mind. 🙂
I love that photo! And yes, we should appreciate every moment we’ve got.
In France (never been, love it more). Yes, love the photo too…
Excellent!
It is, thanks Perpetua…

That’s very true, small moments often stay in the mind in a magnified way. They never do seem very remarkable at the time – but they are remarkable! 🙂
