He was already ‘spooked’ by the snake, which probably sent him into ‘overdrive’ when the little lizard jumped onto him…. Poor guy… I actually felt sorry for him (whilst I was laughing…!) 🙂

You are right. He was playing cool-hand-Luke on the outside for viewers while holding the snake but he must have been terrified. And then the lizard pushed him over the top. Great observation.
