Chicago, Chicago. My kind of town.

Downtown Chicago - Michigan Avenue

We lived in Chicago for five years.  I had the pleasure of returning this week.  Spectacular weather brought back sweet memories of this wonderful city…

  • City of Big Shoulders. Chi-Town. Sears Tower. John Hancock.  City that works.
  • Deep Dish Pizza. Chicago Style Hot Dogs. Cheezborger-Cheezborger-Cheezborger. No Pepsi…Coke. (SNL-Billy Goat Tavern)
  • The Loop. ‘L’ Train. Eden’s Expressway.
  • The Bears. The Bulls. The Hawks. Ditka. Jordan. Chelios.
  • Michigan Avenue. State Street. Water Tower Plaza. Marshall Fields.
  • Chicago Art Institute. Field Museum of Natural History (Giant Dinosaurs). Shed Aquarium.
  • Windy City. Lake Michigan. Chicago River bleeding green on St. Patty’s Day.
  • Gold Coast. Northshore. Wilmette. Northwestern.
  • Evanston Hospital. Eric’s birthplace.

  1. What happier times have we experienced than in this locale? Who would have thunk it, and what do we more appreciatively know now?

  2. Fantastic photos!! Love Chicago. Thanks to you & Susan for the great opportunity to live with all of you and experience so much. Part of my life that I always will cherish.

    1. I forgot all about the time you stayed with us Bro. That was quite an experience for you. I need to keep a diary. Wonderful times like that one are vanishing from my memory.

    1. Thank you. For me too! It’s interesting how evocative sights, sounds, smells and tastes experienced years ago just roll out of our minds with such ease. That’s how it felt writing this post. I couldn’t have taken but 5 minutes.

      1. Yes, we had an office in what is now Willis Tower..was there very often over twenty two years..From a travel perspective, it was pretty intense. But the cities where we were located around the world were pretty cool..

  3. Yes Chicago is so beautiful even the Airport itself is awesome! I only spent 3 days and 3 nights in Chicago way back 1997, but I will never forget its beauty. It stays in my mind. Thanks for sharing this wonderful shots 🙂

  4. Ahhh, my neck of the woods! Chicago is a great city, but David?… “The Bears?” “The Bulls?” Did you learn nothing, man?! Da Bears and Da Bulls would be so disappointed… 😉
