wow. i suppose all those little critters know where they’re going and what they’re doing?

Yes. Incredible video. Whether they know where they are going or not, they are determined to get there.

A little long….but amazing images. Where do they go I wonder?

Visiting I think. 🙂

That was amazing – and a little freaky..It was a little Hitchcock-ish ..like The Birds, but The Hermit Crabs. Ok, so they don’t fly and can’t get into your hair…BUT..they could invade your house…crawling up the stairs, into the bedrooms where people are sleeping…I’m grossing myself out.

Yep. Leave it to Mimi to take the wonder of nature and transform the aura into a Ripley’s Believe It or Not series. Not sure I can look at this clip the same anymore. You have that much influence.

Laughing hard..come on – I have zero influence and am a little neurotic – two criteria for being dismissed summarily (but with an indulgent smile).

Awfully early for some of us to process so many thoughts but here’s the pattern in the last 4 minutes:
1. Right. Put in an epic movie-ish soundtrack and it makes something really creepy marginally less creepy.
2. Strangely depressing. Kind of like the movie Ants from way back when. All those millions moving and working with no apparent ultimate destination or goal.
3. Can’t imagine walking on THAT beach.
4. In the end – OK. A pretty amazing sight.

Wow…see what Mimi did. All the comments have gone dark. Including your #1 to #3 – “Strangely depressing.” Wow. I may have to pull this clip down. 🙂

BUT the point is – I ended up in the light!

That is true. 🙂

These hermit crabs live on the land close to the sea, they are heading back to the sea enmass to mate and then release their eggs into the sea.

Thanks Alex. This answers SRP17 comment above on where they are going.

This would be an amazing event to accidentally come upon. My kids had hermit crabs when they were young, we actually lost a few in our house and never found them 🙂

Laughing. Wonder where they went?

To this day we wonder the same thing 🙂

Not a good place to go swimming then.

It appears it may be a good place to swim because they are all onshore and not in the water.

As long as they stay there….

That was amazing and kind of creepy all at once with that music. Reminded me of a video of ant invasion I saw recently.

Here’s another Hitchcock / The Birds reference. Never imagined that the interpretation of this clip would run this way. 🙂
