Solitude, Mobile Hotel Room, Andalsnes, Norway
“As soon as we are alone…inner chaos opens up in us. This chaos can be so disturbing and so confusing that we can hardly wait to get busy again. Entering a private room and shutting the door, therefore, does not mean that we immediately shut out all our inner doubts, anxieties, fears, bad memories, unresolved conflicts, angry feelings and impulsive desires. On the contrary, when we have removed our outer distraction, we often find that our inner distraction manifest themselves to us in full force. We often use the outer distractions to shield ourselves from the interior noises. This makes the discipline of solitude all the more important.”

Longer than many, I suspect, David. As long as you had something to write with. Introverts would surely do better than Extraverts, for a start!
Now, there you have a point. Introverts would definitely last longer. 🙂
This resonates with me…there’s an awful lot of noise in my head when I strip away all the exterior stuff and sit in quiet. Clearly I need to learn yoga…
In terms of the room above? I wouldn’t last unless the door was kept open. 🙂
Smiling. Bit claustrophobic are we?
Oh yeah..
i love it, i want that in my back garden right now it would be perfect, i always wanted my own private little island too right from when i was young i used to say when i won the lottery i want my own island oh the peace and quiet would be heavenly 🙂 course i would have my kids and dogs with us but that would be excellent because then i would have a paradise of my own with my fave people 🙂 thank you for sharing i may have to print this out and have it on my wall to inspire me 🙂 i hope you have a great day xx
Photo is inspiring. I agree. So, you are going to flood your back garden and build your little floating fort? Be sure to send us all a picture. We’d love to see it. 🙂
yup:) i may have to wait until hubby goes out, he rarely if ever agrees to my plans for the home, he is so mean he hides the hammers! ok i did knock down a wall or two but really they were getting in the way 🙂 have an excellent day 🙂
Now that’s funny.
I would love such a hotel room 🙂
I bet a deep thinker like you would…
Ah, what a wonderful place…
Figured you’d like it. Get your easel out and paint and paint and paint…
…yep and yep and yep!!!
🙂
Such beautiful surroundings, but I do love my creature comforts, so I’d last maybe an hour or two. 🙂
I’m afraid I exactly where you are. Exactly. Camping out is something I did when I was a kid. 🙂
Wow … what a view. The location definitely calls for solitude and inner contemplation. Something slightly more nerve-wracking than the fact there isn’t room for a dishwasher in there!
Now that’s funny!
I want to be there. Right now.
Smiling.
Reminds me a little of being back home. But do believe your camping days are over. You would need to pack to many chargers and treats to make it…Lol.
Laughing. You are so right. Who needs sleeping bags, mosquitos and a back that never returns to normal for weeks after sleeping on dirt. 🙂
I keep looking for the kayak or rowboat! A couple of days there would be heavenly, but like Mimi said, leave the door open…
No kayaks, rowboats or other toys. This is a solitude exercise. 🙂
Well, if I had my computer and ereader, maybe for a day …
Oh Boy! Someone with the courage to speak the TRUTH.
David, hardy Canadians would survive. We only need a fishing rod and sleeping bags.
Ivon
Ivon, I’m certain YOU could survive. I’d be calling the 7-Eleven. 🙂
Well not a bad choice. If I have my things with me I believe I will enjoy it (up to the extent of my patience level) after that I might run away :p I am up for it.
“If I have my things with me…” Wow. What kind of things may I ask? (Can’t wait to hear this…) 🙂
Here you go:
1. Home theater system (Along with CD’s)
2. My Laptop
3. My Phone
4. Books
5. My Wardrobe
6. And I will need a window in that room :p (=
I spewed out my drink. Really? My coach? My mentor? My guide telling “me” to unplug. I couldn’t stop laughing. You neglected to add a generator to this list to keep all of your electronics humming. 🙂
So now I know what to blame for my occasional burning desire for solitude; it’s my Norwegian genes. I have an excuse, at long last 🙂
Norwegian! Well that accounts for many things. Now it is crystal clear!
You reckon? Crystal clear, indeed;-) My genes are an interesting stir fry of Highland Scot, Lowland Scot, French, and Norwegian. Also, in my family tree, there were three generations of first cousin marriages. We started out as nobility but, fortunately, some of us rebelled and did some out-crossing to strengthen the line, unlike some of the past royal families.
Wow, a whole lot of inside information there! And look how fantastic you turned out!
