Love it!!!
Not cranky anymore (coffee, the wonder drug).
Printing and posting this one.
Glad to hear it! Worried about you this morning…
Now that I’m getting older reading is much easier with bigger fonts on the computer. Love reading. Enjoyed your post today.
Thanks Melody…
Outstanding, David. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Christian. Yes, a great quote…
Books are some of my best friends!
Me too!
Great post David. I rarely watch TV. I am usually reading, writing, listening to music, or socializing on the many sites that I am a member of. Reading is everything and something that most people would never really appreciate.

I love reading all John Maxwell books.
Read Daily Fuel for motivational and inspirational messages at http://leadertank.com/html/daily_fuel.htm
Hi Terry. I’m generally aligned with you. I haven’t been able to get through many Maxwell books. He’s prolific. I’ve read a lot, but no books lately. Heading out on vacation shortly, and I’m going to have to pull together some reading material.
Well said, Nora!
Wonderful quote. Wow. That is how I feel about reading. She so beautifully nailed it. Indeed. Rest in Peace. I am on a road trip with family and listened to soundtrack for Sleepless in Seattle while driving today. She will be missed. Read on everyone in her honor.
– Michael
She did so beautifully nail it Michael. Quote hit me right in the forehead when I read it – an “aha” moment.
This post is not only a tribute to Nora Ephron but music to every writer’s ears.Without readers, writers would have little purpose.
Yes, so true.
I will miss Nora Ephron. There is really no book of hers I didn’t enjoy, no article in the New Yorker that went unread. Reading is the grist for so much that we then churn out in one way or another (whether we are writers or not). From the incidental to the classics, there is nothing that affects me like reading,..um…other than music.
Thanks Mimi. Would you recommend any of her work to read first?
Her collection of essays “Crazy Salad” – it’s early Nora Ephron, but classic..
Thanks, will check it out.
Hello David,
Great post ! I completely agree with Nora.. Reading lets you experience diffrent Worlds and as I said before for me its the food of my Soul… Do suggest me a book I was waiting for the right time to ask and I believe today is the day =)
Thanks Sonia. Suggest you go to the Tab above called “Reading Lists” or hit this link: http://davidkanigan.com/reading-lists/ and go to the Fiction link. A few of my favorites are: Home: A Novel by Marilynne Robinson – – A Lesson Before Dying by Ernest J. Gaines – – The Education of Little Tree by Forrest Carter – – Peace Like a River by Leif Enger.
Thanks alot ! I have noted these names and I will read them all InshaAllah =)
I totally agree!
🙂
Reading is a good book in bed.
Or just about anywhere else. 🙂
What a talent! She so beautifully encapsulates all that I love about reading here. It”s a source of tremendous joy for me–the vehicle that allows one to travel to different worlds, span the emotional gamut, experience something new and never leave your favorite chair. 🙂
Yes, squarely on point Lori!
That quote is so true. Reading opens up a whole new world.
Yes, so good.
Agree with every single word, what a fabulous quote, thank you so much for sharing it.
Thanks Claire. I’m with you…
Great find and bang on!!
