  1. Lots of truth here. Being a “died in the wool” Midwesterner, I especially struggle with the inability to cross the street to meet a new neighbor. I often feel like lots of folks have lost sight of the simple joy of just “leaning in the fence post and having a chat.” ce la vie–I keep walking and talking :-) It just takes a moment to connect…. Have a lovely day, David!

These words were read at Matt’s high school graduation and they are posted on my bulletin board (yes I still use bulletin boards)..These words are so fundamental – we have evolved ourselves into a devolving humanity. The illusion of having it all – until one truly seeks to define what that means..

  5. Wow, that about says it all…. Time to cross the street…

  6. A whole lot of truth in this one.

  7. Sigh. And my son is only 8. Too much truth in this one. Definitely time to make crossing the street a top priority.

  8. Wow…oh so true. We are constantly struggling to keep as much of the “old way”, but feel that our kids are technologically behind the times. They are the only ones in their classes who do not own a DS and are limited to 30 minutes every second day of either TV, computer or WII (we liked the bowling option so caved into that one one Christmas). Now the schools are transitioning to IPads…gone forever is the hand writing skills class! Am I just being stubborn or smart…the days of riding our bikes and playing ball or going fishing seemed so simple…..

Depressing but true; it seems our advances have become a leap backwards in many ways.
