Hello, sun in my face

Hello, sun in my face.
Hello, you who make the morning
and spread it over the fields
and into the faces of the tulips
and the nodding morning glories,
and into the windows of, even, the
miserable and crotchety–

best preacher that ever was,
dear star, that just happens
to be where you are in the universe
to keep us from ever-darkness,
to ease us with warm touching,
to hold us in the great hands of light–
good morning, good morning, good morning.

Watch, now, how I start the day
in happiness, in kindness.

— Mary Oliver, Why I Wake Early

          1. So much and I’ve forgotten my skills, it’s been so long. Once summer passes I’m going to take my Leica out for a spin. It’s 2 years old and I haven’t used it yet. Thank God I’m feeling better and I can’t wait to relearn my skills. I’ve been taking phots since I was in 9th grade.

          2. My desired camera of all time was a Leica M but who can afford that and I’m not doing any safaris. This was my realistic dream camera and I can’t wait to use it. 🙂

  1. Stunner. The words, the sunshine, the time it takes to capture it for all of us. Thank you DK.

Challenge. Tonight get the moon for us!

          1. Mary Oliver and David Kanigan having their moment. It doesn’t get any better than you two combined.

  2. stunning match, once more. I can’t get over how Mary Oliver – without fail – always touches the core of everything she chooses to write about.
And good morning to you and all out there!

  3. Beuatiful photographs, but you always take amazing moments… Mr.Sixty is being jealousy! And I am sure, Mary Oliver, if she were here and to see your photographs, I am sure she would have written this poem once again. Thank you dear David, have a nice day and new week, Love, nia
