  1. *gasp.. please tell Eric that I gasped! OmG, DK.. these are phenomenal. So so many congrats and my great whale-loving thanks to him, too — and yes, we may be more similar to them than we’d guess.

  2. Wow!  Congratulations to him and his proud parents!

          1. He certainly has the skills. I know there are sites that host your photos for sell, but can’t remember the names. If interested, I have a reader who uses one, I can ask him.

  3. WOW!!! Well-deserved gold medal – congratulations Eric!! His writing so beautifully complements his photos and his photos invite us into this world of wonder he has found. Fantastic!

  4. I am not surprised. And I’m sure there will be more to come.
And I love this, “It is in these moments in the seemingly endless expanses of the sea, watching the animals spend time with one another, that you begin to understand that their comfort comes from closeness, not distance; from touch, not personal space. You start to realize that we might just be more similar to these giants than we thought.”

    Thank you Erik

  5. These photos are BEAUTIFUL! Together they tell a story…. How engaging these are these magnificent creatures! Thank you for sharing Erik’s work and deserved success with us! Has anyone here listened to Paul Winter Consort? “In 1980, the cathedral [of Saint John the Divine in NY City] commissioned Paul to write the Missa Gaia/Earth Mass, which he created as an ecumenical ecological mass celebrating the entire Earth as a sacred place.” He recorded whales’ songs for decades.

He’s a jazz musician who has recorded whale sounds, their music. “In 1980, the cathedral [Cathedral of St. John the Divine in NY City] commissioned Paul to write the Missa Gaia/Earth Mass, which he created as an ecumenical ecological mass celebrating the entire Earth as a sacred place.
