Lightly Child, Lightly.

  • You’ll say, you don’t have 15 minutes to spare to watch this.  Then after you do, you’ll say: “I’m glad I did.”
  • Post Title & Inspiration: Aldous Huxley: “It’s dark because you are trying too hard. Lightly child, lightly. Learn to do everything lightly. Yes, feel lightly even though you’re feeling deeply. Just lightly let things happen and lightly cope with them.”

  1. David,
I’m glad I did. Not just because of the mood of the music (it’s my style, among many others). I love their integration of an old LP’s Amazonian sound. The players play while a volcano is tremoring. The volcano is real-and so its potential for harm-but so are the musicians. Yet they play inside no matter the “weather” outside. They play despite the creaky chair.
Yes, I’m glad I watched and listened.
    Thank you.

  2. I once more have the problem that i can only comment when I’m on ‘my’ WP homepage – as all my subs seem to be cancelled…..
So, just to say I don’t know what others wrote or how they feel about it, I can say with great happiness and thankfulness that I’ve known about NpR Tiny Desk Concerts for a long time and I just LOVE them. So versatile and intimate in the best sense. This seems a HUGE but still intimate frame as it’s in Arnalds’ home studio. But it’s well worth going on the YT site because I couldn’t describe the feelings and vibes of a quiet & serene happiness better than they are already described on NPR. I have a lot of sorrow and pain to carry with me at present time and this is PERFECTLY peaceful, as is (probably – as per HH’s memories; he who has been there) Reykjavík, and Iceland…
Thank you for sharing this prize jewel.

  13. These 15 minutes are so inviting.

Olafur Arnalds’, re:member, accompanied me as I wrote my blog this morning. It was a good accompaniment to writing myself back into the light after the story I share of defying the night, of walking in the dark even though fear also accompanies me.

Just as his Tiny Desk re:awakens me to beauty, writing out my fear re:acquaints me to courage, beauty, possibility, love.

    Thank you. ❤
