The way a deer emerges from a thicket is the opposite of a wound.
Like the moon in the morning — all firmament, beautiful, about to vanish.
Each morning I walk out my apartment & wonder what is going to become of me.

Blimey, where do you find all these treasures, day after day?! This (both, pic & poem) made me thinks of one sis-in-law’s home, right at the forest’s outer line, looking out her huge windows and shouting with delight at the deers, hares, yound and older hoovers showing up and off! I was there a few times the deer mothers had their young ones and it IS breathtakingly wonderful… I LOVE the words.

Early, a few cold mornings back before the neighborhood woke up just after the morning light emerged, I stood-still in silence against the side of the Avalon, ….watching the magnificence of the three point buck in all his glory…he stood about 40ft to the west and across the road…he must have come up from the creek …he knew I was there and he didn’t feel me a threat so he meandered, bending his heavy head and rack, opening his mouth eating apples scattered on the ground, he learned from his mother that for generations the apple trees have provided…even though some had been cut down…some remain, thankfully…he wandered east, toward the mail box…now he was almost directly across from me maybe ten steps…I continue to watch alone, in silence knowing that the few minutes of interlude was an amazing gift…I am so grateful…later in the morning I walked out front to see a group of Turkeys straight across the road showing their tail feather plumage…I cherish this moments of solitary, witness ,,,

Today, we were out front, he’d was just finishing up with the faux cedar garlands…he noticed the turkeys were coming, a small pack of nine, one of which was smoked with white…they Sashay up the sidewalk…they will hang out in the road though not for long, they are smart and they have learned of the danger of being on the road…once we saw a long turkey in an isolated neighborhood he was standing for some time as if he was waiting, ha he was at a bus stop! Such a classic memory and I so wished I would have had a camera … PS: yes they make a mess on the sidewalk that one must sidestep…
