Not a big ask…

I want a garden, a small house, grass, animals, books, pictures, music. And out of this, the expression of this, I want to be writing […] But warm, eager, living life—to be rooted in life—to learn, to desire to know, to feel, to think, to act. That is what I want. And nothing less.

~ Katherine Mansfield, (1888-1923) in a diary entry featured in Letters and Journals of Katherine Mansfield

  1. And didn‘t she do exactly that? What a brilliant woman she was!
As well as being ‚responsible‘ for some truly wonderful BBC films of her work.

  2. I’d like to be “writing from that” too. I want just a little less, apparently, because I nodded at “grass animals,” not having spotted the disappointing comma at first (grass animals would last longer than regular ones)!

  3. Wouldn’t that be perfection?
Though I would have to add that I need to have access to people, too. I would not be able to live as a total recluse.

  4. Katherine Mansfield’s words echo contentment for me…one of the books for me would of course be a Bible…

  5. She died so young, 34 from a blood clot…I so wonder what additional words she would have gifted us with…
